Experimenting locally with a throttled bandwidth, an 80K progressive jpeg beats a 5K baseline jpeg (the same image, downsized) to the page in Firefox on Windows. This should blow your mind. Sure, the progressive jpeg’s first pass is low-resolution, but it contains as much information, or more, as the small image. And if you are zoomed out, perhaps on a mobile device, you will not notice it’s low-res. That’s responsive images working for us right now!

Googles Webpage Speedtest vergibt ein F für nicht-progressive JPGs. Da speed inzwischen ein Ranking-Faktor ist ...

BTW: CGSmartImage ab Version 1.17 unterstützt progressive jpg (laut Calguy ... muss ich noch testen).

Ohne Modifikation im Code ist es nicht möglich. Was ist aber ein "progressive jpg"? Sagt mir im Moment nichts.

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit die von Autolightbox generierten Thumbnails als "progressive jpg" erzeugen zu lassen?

Technisch ist das mit GD ja machbar:

"$objPhotoResize->interlace = true; set interlace on for the JPEG image, with JPEG images the interlace option will set the JPEG image to a progressive JPEG"
